Nigerian music executive and lynchpin, Larry Gaaga takes us to an Igbo traditional root with a new tune, “Egedege.”
Apparently, the sound, “Egedege” is Larry Gaaga‘s newest entry and it calls for the vocal assistance of Eastern Nigeria Highlife personality, Flavour N’abania, PentHauze general and indigenous rapper Phyno and Egedege popular dancer Theresa Onuorah who all added source on the track.
Few days back, Larry Gaaga was also present on Flavour’s recent music video to “Levels” alongside Yul Edochie, Cubana Chief Priest, Zubby Michael, Kanayo O. Kanayo and others. Now, he comes with a new Igbo traditional sound tagged, “Egedege.”
The song serves as first song in 2021 and a follow-up to his most previously released musical body of work, “Rattle Snake” which houses hit songs like “Doubting Thomas” featuring Davido and Umu Obiligbo, “This Life” featuring Umu Obiligbo, D’banj and Patoranking and “Pause” featuring Peruzzi.
Let’s talk more on what Egedege is? Egedege is the name of a popular traditional dance style and also an Igbo custom Royal-technique ethnic dance known in the whole of South Eastern part of Nigeria. The dance was invented in 1985, and it is a rebirth of an ancient kind initially rendered by the ancestors of the existing Unubi. Back in the days, it was a moonlight show, danced specially by the youths.
Nevertheless, Egedege dance was made more accepted by Mrs Theresa Onuorah in Unubi Town. Theresa is happily married and currently base in Unubi. The title “Egedege” arise from a local colloquialism for wealth and fearlessness which describes why the dance move is contemplated as Cultural classics and are only performed in a royal abodes or wealthy families or groups.
Conclusively, music production aid was masterminded and controlled by Masterkraft who did an exceptional job.
