Senegal’s Sadio Mane clinches 2019 African Best Award
Liverpool and Senegal’s forward, Sadio Mane is crowned the best footballer in the continent after beating Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez in an award ceremony held at Hurghada, Egypt.
The voting session held shows Sadio Mane with the highest vote recording 477 votes where follow teammate, Mo Salah came second with 325 votes and Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez coming up with 267 votes.
Mane scored a whooping 32 goals in all competition for Liverpool last season in 53 appearances winning UEFA Champions League, Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup and also coming second in the league with a record 97 points for a runner-up in the Barclays Premier League.
The former RB Salzburg forward was also named in the PFA Team of the Year in 2019 where the 27-year-old shared the 2018/2019 Golden Boot Award with both Mo Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a 66 goal thriller (22 goals each).
Sadio Mane was also the main man in the Senegalese team as they reached the CAF Finals that was held in Egypt back in 2019 though loosing 1-0 to Algeria.
The CAF 2019 winners, Alegeria was named best team of the year with their coach, Djamel Belmadi winning Africa’s Men’s Coach of the Year 2019.
