Coronavirus: Second case of COVID-19 confirmed in Nigeria
The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has just disclosed that a second case of COVID-19 in Ogun state, Nigeria has been confirmed.
Dr. Osagie Ehanire made this known today been Monday, 9th March, 2020, at a press conference in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.
Ehanire updated reporters at the briefing room of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, where he gave a brief on the coronavirus disease in Nigeria. According to the minister, the second person infected with the deadly virus got in contact with the Italian patient that paid a visit to Ewekoro in Ogun State back in February, 2020 after the virus outbreak from Wuhan, China.
This second case is a contact of the index case, in Ogun state. The new case has been in isolation and was tested as part of our strategy to test all contacts of the index case. pic.twitter.com/aTkzEy3qXo
